Blockchain-Based Digital Trust in IoT for Edge Computing

SCOPE:

The integration of Blockchain in IoT for Edge Computing addresses the significant need for enhanced security and transparency in the world of interconnected devices. Here, Blockchain is a decentralized tamper-resistant ledger that records transactions across a network of computers. This architecture ensures transparency among critical elements in the context of IoT at the edge. The integration of these technologies empowers devices to communicate and transact securely without the need for intermediaries. Moreover, Blockchain serves as a catalyst for creating a trustworthy environment for data exchange. Each transaction is stored in a block forming an unalterable chain. The decentralized nature of this ledger ensures that no single entity has control, mitigating the risk of a single point of failure. However, this technological integration has challenges like the scalability of Blockchain in the context of a rapidly expanding IoT ecosystem. To overcome these types of challenges Consensus mechanisms like Proof of Stake and Directed Acyclic Graphs can be considered to enhance scalability and reduce latency. Moreover, the development of lightweight Blockchain protocols for resource-constrained IoT devices ensures seamless integration without compromising performance. The fusion of Blockchain and IoT for Edge Computing provides multiple possibilities bringing together enhanced security, transparency and decentralized governance. Also, it is important to establish digital trust in an increasingly interconnected world that propels this technological evolution. While challenges persist with the ongoing trends, prospects and strategies a promising future exists, where the integration of these technologies becomes trustworthy in the resilient digital landscape.
