Impact of Social Sensing in Smart Cities

Impact of Social Sensing in Smart Cities

In recent years, the efficient features of social sensing are gaining attention among researchers due to its inevitable contributions to smart city development. Smart cities are recognizing the importance of their sustainable economy and high standards of living. The need for social sensing is much essential for the
enhancement of smart cities since it holds the potentiality to monitor environmental wellness to a greater extent. The scope of incorporating social sensing techniques encloses both the enhancement and strengthening processes of smart cities.

The research investigates that the importance of smart cities widens since it holds the ability to mitigate the heavy burdens on resources and broadly helps in proper waste, pollution, transportation, and traffic management using technological features. Hence, the outstanding features of social sensing aids in the development of smart cities around the world. Social sensing indulges collecting accurate databases about the factors responsible for cities' development, such as pollution rate, water facilities, health sectors, industrialization, and much more. The sensing practices widely enclose humans as sensors or as sensors as themselves. In addition, the social sensing module generates the use of online social networks to detect and monitor events like urban demonstrations, accidents, industrial congestion, and much more, which in turn initiates the development of smart cities. Recent research focuses on the beneficiary trends of social sensing that privacy issues could be broadly sorted out through legal terms rather than technical means, which poses greater risks towards privacy threats. People are ensured to benefit from social sensing that it acknowledges everyone in rural and urban localities and initiates for the better development of a smart environment. To effectively counter this subject, predicting patterns of social sensing with essential features is found to serve as a better objective for developing smarter cities. Furthermore, the benefits of social sensing indulge and provoke immediate human responses for emergencies, mitigate the technological errors on databases and increase the accuracy of information to a greater extent.

Monitoring the features and factors of social sensing with their limitations plays a most important role in achieving the sustainability of the smarter city as quickly as possible. The adequate knowledge of social sensing helps in gaining smarter cities feasibly. However, it is essential to create greater awareness among the public, which helps gain a sustainable, smarter city. Researchers and investigators are most invited to present theoretical and empirical research work against this subject.
